Dear Ms. Cook,
Congratulations on your promotion to Professor! How does it feel to be the youngest full professor in Northern history?
As you may have heard from Dr. johnson, the company I've been working with (Pine Tree Corporation) is being bought out in a hostile takeover. My position, that of Corporate Communications Manager, is one that will be eliminated when the takeover occurs next month.
I would appreciate it if you could spend some time early next week talking with me and sharing your knowledge of the job search process. It's been many years since I've had to look for a job, and my skills in this area are a bit rusty. Specifically, I'm looking for a position in public relations, preferably with an environmentally-conscious company. I've enclosed an updated copy of my resume for you.
